Derica Curtis has worked in the telecommunications industry for over 10 years. During her career, Derica has held several different technical positions in corporate America for a number of Fortune 500 companies including GTE (now Verizon), the Gallup Organization and Hallmark Cards to a name a few. With a B.S. in Computer Science, Derica has not only developed and written programs in a myriad of computer languages, but also engineered products to provide
dial-up (i.e. modem banks), DSL and ISP services.

These experiences has provided her with an insight into how networks work from beginning to end - from the home modem or business router to the Network Service Provider. In addition to engineering products for DSL, ISP and dial-up services, she has also trained non-technical corporate groups and students on the basics of understanding these and other technical services at corporate events (i.e. Bryant Gumbel's Open Golf Tournament) and conferences (i.e. Black Executive Exchange Program's National Conference).

At the same time, Derica has always had a heart for youth, particularly kids who struggle with math. She had the same struggle in middle and high school herself. It wasn't until college that math finally "clicked." She has tutored kids with Upward Bound as well as at local area schools for over 15 years. Derica's approach is to ascertain where the students skills are lacking with the fundamentals. In most cases, it's the fundamentals that causes students to struggle. Derica understands kids who struggle with math and is patient in explaining things at their level.
